(C) Econoff delivered ref demarche to Raul Saez,
International Affairs Coordinator, at the Chilean Ministry of
Finance, April 15. The Ministry of Finance issues voting
instructions to Chile,s Governors at the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank. Saez reported Chile will
stick to its position of not recognizing the &unilateral
declaration of independence by Kosovo.8 Accordingly, Chile
would either vote "no" or abstain on Kosovo,s application
for IMF and World Bank membership. The Ministry of Finance
and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were still coordinating
on the decision. Econoff emphasized the importance of a
timely vote for purposes of establishing a quorum. Saez was
aware of the May 5 deadline and promised Chile would meet it.
