1. (SBU) In response to reftels A and B's request, on
September 18, the Italian MFA Arms Control and
Non-proliferation Office informed Post that the Deputy
Director General for Multilateral Political Affairs, Minister
Plenipotentiary Filippo Formica, will be Italy's Sherpa for
the April 2010 Global Nuclear Security Summit. Formica
chairs the G8 Non-proliferation Directors Group until the end
of 2009 and drafted all the relevant non-proliferation
documents of the Italy's G8 presidency.
2. (SBU) The POC for the Global Nuclear Security Summit will
be Giovanni Pugliese, Director of the Arms Control and
Non-proliferation Office within the Directorate General of
Multilateral Political Affairs. Pugliese has provided their
contact information to the NSC coordinator.
