1. (SBU) Ambassador presented ref A points announcing USG candidacy
for a seat on the UN Human Rights Council in a meeting on April 6
with Icelandic MFA Permanent Secretary Benedikt Jonsson. Jonsson
said Iceland would "look warmly on" the U.S. entry into the race and
took the points on board.

2. (SBU) Pol Chief delivered ref B diplomatic note and Human Rights
Pledge to Ingibjorg Davidsdottir, Counsellor for Human Rights at the
Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs on 17 April. Davidsdottir

the same sentiment in an informal conversation with Pol Chief on
April 16.)
