Inspector General for Arab and Islamic Relations Mohammed
Azeroual on Dec. 1. Azeroual welcomed the efforts that the
Obama Administration had put into developing a multi-faceted
new approach to a very difficult problem. He noted that U.S.
partners like Morocco were pleased to see the heavy emphasis
on tangible development on the ground, which he characterized
as essential in Afghanistan, especially in the areas of
education, health, and infrastructure. He opined that the
U.S. mission in Afghanistan will be challenging and expressed
his government's hope that the new strategy would succeed.
