SUBJECT: MOROCCO GIVES CLEAR SUPPORT FOR UNSCR 1874

(SBU) Poloffs met with Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Head of United Nations Division Redouane Houssaini on June 26
to discuss reftel message concerning United Nations Security
Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1874 condemning North Korea's May
25 claimed nuclear test and imposing new measures against the
country. Houssaini replied that as a member of the
Proliferation Security Initiative and the Global Initiative
to Combat Nuclear Terrorism, Morocco has a very clear stance
on this issue and agrees that all member states should abide
with the resolution. Houssaini added that Morocco does not
have diplomatic ties with North Korea and supported the UN
Human Rights resolution against the rogue country. He agreed
to share the demarche information with all concerned GOM
departments and agencies.
