1. (SBU) The Ambassador delivered reftel points to Minister of
Defense Javier Ponce on December 1. Ponce expressed interest and
asked to be updated as more information became available. The
Embassy also delivered reftel points on December 1 to the MFA's
Directorate General of North America and the Directorate General of
Asia, Africa and Oceanic Affairs. Director General of North
American Juan Salazar confirmed that both offices had received the
information, but had no substantive response.
