TO PEACEFUL USES AGREEMENT

1. The South African Government (SAG) Department of
International Relations and Cooperation (DICO) confirmed that
two shipments of U.S. obligated nuclear material transferred
from EURATOM will be subject to the terms and conditions of
the Agreement for Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy, responding
by diplomatic note to our request (Reftel and our diplomatic
note of June 24, 2009).
2. The SAG DICO sent a note dated July 14, 2009 with the
following text:
Department of International Relations and Cooperation of the
Republic of South Africa informed the U.S. Embassy on July 14
via Diplomatic Note ML6/NECSA/8 as follows:
"The Department of International Relations and Cooperation of
the Republic of South Africa hereby confirms that the
transferred nuclear material will be subject to the terms and
conditions of the Agreement of Co-operation between the
United States and the Republic of South Africa Concerning
Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy signed in Pretoria on 25
August 1995 upon receipt."
