DAS Jean-Baptiste Faivre per reftel on September 17. Faivre
was surprised there were so many Americans being held in Iran
(he started at his current position only three weeks ago) and
he was thankful for our demarche because the Government of
France (GOF) is taking similar actions to assist in the
release of two French citizens currently being held in Iran.
Faivre felt our countries' combined actions would be more
productive than acting alone. He said the GOF would mention
the American detainees in its future communications with
other countries about the French detainees.
