1. (SBU) This report provides an update on developments in Cyprus
regarding the H1N1 flu.
FIRST CONFIRMED CASE
2. (SBU) On May 30, the Government of Cyprus (GOC) Ministry of
Health confirmed that one patient had been diagnosed with the H1N1
flu virus. The patient, a 39-year old female Cypriot resident from
Moldova, had just returned from a visit to the United States where
it is believed she was infected. GOC Health officials advise us
that the patient is responding well to treatment and is expected to
be released from Limassol Hospital's special ward soon. GOC health
authorities seem sufficiently sensitized to the public health risks
posed by the H1N1 virus and are taking appropriate precautionary and
treatment measures.
