1. (C) Poloff delivered reftel demarche to Ministry of
External Affairs (MEA) Under Secretary for United Nations
Economic and Social (UNES) Division Abhishek Verma on
September 24. Verma explained this issue was being examined
at senior levels within the Ministry and declined to offer a
substantive response at this stage. Poloff emphasized to
Verma that India's support for a balanced resolution, based
on an unbiased approach to the Goldstone report, was of great
importance to the United States.
2. (U) Post will continue to express our strong interest in
this matter and will report progress septel.
