--------------
PAKISTAN/U.S. MILITARY AID
--------------
1. "INDIA NEEDS TO KEEP HER EYES WIDE OPEN," op-ed
article in June 10 centrist Gujarati daily, DIVYA
BHASKAR: "For over five decades now, Pakistan has been
receiving U.S. aid on one pretext or another just to
gain military superiority over India. It is thus widely
perceived that the purpose of U.S. Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton's scheduled India visit next month is
to pressure India to resume the dialogue process with
Pakistan. India's policy of blindly believing America
has not reaped any favorable results."
--------------
TERRORISM/PAKISTAN
--------------
2. "RELEASE OF TERRORISTS IS EVIDENCE OF PAKISTAN'S
DECEIT," op-ed in June 9 right-of-center Hindi daily,
DAINIK JAGRAN: "Col. Nazir Mohammad's release soon
after the release of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz
Saeed, demonstrates that Pakistan's fight against
terrorism is a mere eyewash. In the name of the war
against terror, Pakistan has done precious little,
other than extracting a fat amount of U.S. aid, which
it is using against India. This clearly shows
Pakistan's real game plan, and its dishonesty in the
fight against terror."
--------------
PRESIDENT OBAMA'S SPEECH IN CAIRO
--------------
3. "OBAMA'S ASSALAM-AALEKUM TO THE MUSLIM WORLD,"
commentary in June 9 Hindi daily, VIR ARJUN: "President
Obama's speech in Cairo was historical. Only time will
show its effect, but it is a good start. Muslims from
Indonesia to India and in many other countries believe
that only Obama's efforts will become the basis of
U.S.-Israel relations and a free Palestine in the
coming future. But if Obama wants to change the U.S.
image, he will have to do something concrete because
talks and slogans are not enough."
