SUBJECT: BAHAMAS CONFIRMS FIRST CASE OF H1N1

(U) The Ministry of Health reported The Bahamas' first
confirmed case of H1N1 influenza in a young adult visitor
from New York May 30. According to the Ministry of Health
(MOH),the traveler was identified through standing
surveillance measures May 25 and returned to New York May 26,
but test results confirmed H1N1 only May 29. The Foreign
Ministry informed Post and the Ministry of Health also
reported and provided more detailed information to the CDC.
The MOH is monitoring the situation and reminded the public
about basic preventive measures, as well as giving hot-line
numbers for further information
