1. (U) Mission delivered reftel talking points and the
Department's press statement on the USG candidacy for the UN
Human Rights Council to Ministry of Foreign Affairs Under
Secretary, International Division, Marilyn Zonicle, April 1.
Ms. Zonicle took note but made no commitment, saying the GCOB
would be interested in reciprocal agreements in light of four
outstanding requests for U.S. support of Bahamian candidacies
in multilateral forums, including three in the UN system (ref
B). Post delivered the diplomatic note and U.S. statement on
human rights (ref B) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs April
16.
