(C) On October 25, EconOff met with Ahmed Al Kathiry, Deputy MFA
Chief of American Affairs, conveying reftel information and
inquiring into Oman's likely representation to the 2009 BMENA Forum
for the Future in Marrakech. Al Kathiry seemed vaguely aware of the
Forum but said that he would inquire as to likely representation.
In a follow-up call the same day, Al Kathiry told EconOff that Oman
would most likely send representatives from its Embassy in Morocco
to represent Oman. Al Kathiry was reminded that high-level
representation is anticipated and that the Foreign Ministers of
Morocco, Jordan and Bahrain, along with SecState, had committed to
attend the Forum. Post will keep department apprised of any changes
in the delegation.
