UNESCO SUBSIDIARY ORGANS
1. Mexico's Foreign Secretariat (SRE),per diplomatic note
dated February 20, 2009, addressed to the Embassy, has
advised us that Mexico is seeking election to the following
subsidiary organs of the United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the
elections scheduled to take place during the 35th General
Conference in October 2009 in Paris.
The Government of Mexico seeks to become of the following
organs:
a) Intergovernmental Committee for Promoting the Return of
Cultural Property to its Countries of Origin or its
Restitution in case of Illicit Appropriation for the period
2009-2013;
b) The World Heritage Committee for the period 2009-2013;
c) Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) for the period
2009-2013.
2 Action Request: Embassy requests Department guidance on
responding to Mexico's appeal for support.
