Candidate has been working in this current position for the last 13
years. The candidate is the sole Commercial, Agricultural and Economic
specialist at AmEmbassy Maputo. She is instrumental in providing
support to Post as well as Washington and regional visitors on a variet
of ESTH issues. Significant foreign direct investment is expected to
continue in the tourism field, and large scale plantation farming shoul
provide Mozambique with broad- based economic growth. Mozambique has
significant natural resources which are only beginning to be explored.

i. With expectations of increased tourism in Mozambique, particularly
eco-tourism, and the ongoing development of conservation areas such
as Gorongosa National Park, MaputoQs candidate would benefit from a
better understanding of tourism-related issues, to include environmenta
policy and regulation. The candidate currently interacts with the
Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry for Coordination
and Environment Action, and the Ministry of Fisheries, but would benefi
from FSI training on ESTH in order to invigorate her current
relationship with these ministries.

and SPS issues, biotechnology, tourism, and trade-related science
issues.
