1. (SBU) Embassy delivered Ref A demarche to Department of Foreign
Affairs, Office of United Nations and International Organizations on
September 25, 2009. On October 14, we received a diplomatic note
from the Department of Foreign Affairs stating that the Philippines
will support the U.S. candidate for re-election to the International
Maritime Organization (IMO) Council under Category A. The note also
seeks USG support for the Philippine candidate for re-election to
the IMO Council under Category C.

BASSETT
