SUBJECT: UK TO FOLLOW P-5 AGREEMENT ON FIFTH COMMITTEE VOTE

1. (SBU) Mark Rush, Internal Policy Officer in the
International Organizations Department of the FCO told Post
that HMG expects to follow the P-5 agreement and support the
USG's candidate and also expects the USG to support its two
candidates - Goolam Hoosnan Kader Meeran for the UN Dispute
Tribunal and Roy Lewis for the UN Appeals Tribunal. Rush said
that HMG has no further guidance to provide at this time.
Rush also noted that the third UK candidate, Mark Sutton, has
had his candidacy withdrawn by HMG.
