(C) Polcouns and Poloff met with Shazryll Zahiran, Principal
Assistant Secretary in the MFA's Disarmament and
Non-Proliferation Section, on November 25 to discuss ref A
points concerning Syria's lack of cooperation with the IAEA
over its facility at Al-Kibar. (Note: Poloff previously
passed reftel points to Shazryll on November 20. End Note.)
Shazryll replied that neither he nor his government had a
reaction to our points as yet, noting that the GOM was "only
looking at Iran" at the moment. (Comment: Shazryll and
other GOM interlocutors appear determined not to engage on
the Al-Kibar issue, having refused to discuss it with us on
previous occasions (refs B-D). End Comment.)
