SUBJECT: GDRC ATTENDANCE AT JULY 1-3 AU SUMMIT

(SBU) Banza Ngoy Katumwe, Head of the MFA's International
Organizations Directorate, told us on June 19 that Foreign
Minister Alexis Thambwe Mwamba would most likely head the
GDRC delegation to the July 1-3 AU Summit. Ngoy added that
this was still tentative and, in the event Thambwe does not
travel to the summit, MFA Vice-Minister Ignace Gata would
lead the GDRC delegation. Ngoy said that specific travel and
lodging arrangements had not been finalized.
