1. This is in response to reftel request for post contact
information for ASEAN related issues.
2. Embassy Jakarta's Political and Economic sections formed a joint
ASEAN Engagement Team (AET) in December 2008. Economic Counselor
Peter D. Haas and Political Counselor Joseph L. Novak co-chair the
team. AET team members hold biweekly meetings and maintain regular
informal consultations. Team members will coordinate information
sharing and reporting on ASEAN matters and identify new policy
initiatives and other opportunities to advance the USG agenda with
ASEAN.
3. Primary responsibilities of the AET members are outlined below:
-- Political Officer Matthew A. Cenzer (cenzerma@state.gov):
Political and security issues, coordination with the Indonesian
Department of Foreign Affairs (DEPLU) and with the permanent
missions of ASEAN member states on ASEAN issues;
-- Economic Officer Machut A. Shishak (shishakma@state.gov): ESTH
and general economic issues, coordination with the ASEAN Secretariat
and with the permanent missions of ASEAN member states;
-- ASEAN Liaison Officer Molly E. Mahar (maharme@state.gov):
Technical cooperation, coordination with the ASEAN Secretariat, and
general economic issues (part-time, job share with Spelsberg);
-- ASEAN Liaison Officer Elizabeth A. Spelsberg
(spelsbergea@state.gov): Technical cooperation and coordination with
the ASEAN Secretariat (part-time, job share with Spelsberg).
4. In addition to the core team members, the AET will coordinate
with other Mission elements as necessary for specific initiatives.
