USAID/Guatemala has identified the following individual of the
National Civil Police (PNC) to attend a retreat organized by the
USAID Community Based-Policing Program in support of developing
positive and capable leaders within the Guatemalan National Civilian
Police. The workshop was originally planned for June 9-11, 2009.
The workshop, however, was tentatively rescheduled for August 10 to
12 at the Tikal Futura Hotel. As head of Joint Chiefs of Planning,
Major Arias Cordoba will also receive ongoing technical assistance

to achieve the program's objective of improving the planning process
within the PNC. Embassy conducted its own review and found no
credible information that the individual below has been involved in
gross human rights violations. Please conduct human rights vetting
on this individual and advise of any results by June 26, 2009.
