SUBJECT: SAN MARINO PARLIAMENT ELECTS NEW HEADS OF STATE
The San Marino Parliament elected Massimo Cenci of the New
Socialist Party (NPS) and Oscar Mina of the Christian Democratic
Party (PDCS) as Captains Regent (Joint Chiefs of State) for the
period April 1 - October 1, 2009. Cenci, 42, a business lawyer
by profession, was elected to the Great and General Council (San
Marino Parliament) in the November 2008 general elections. In
2005 he was among the founders of the NPS of which he serves as
Deputy Secretary. He is married to Francesca Pallozzi. They
have two sons. Mina, 51, engineer, a civil servant by
profession, was elected to the Great and General Council for the
first time in the 2006 elections and served initially in the
Finance Committee and subsequently in the Justice Committee.
Re-elected in the 2008 elections he serves as Chairman of the
Parliamentary Commission to the OECD, as well as Deputy Floor
Leader of the PDCS. Mina is not married.
