(C) Poloff joined with DCMs from the UK, German and French
missions (and on behalf of the Italian embassy) to deliver
ref demarche to MFA and the Ministry of Finance April 17.
MFA Director of Multilateral Cooperation Begum Taj said the
request to support Kosovo's IMF membership posed no problem
in principle, being a technical matter on which Finance had
the lead. She promised to discuss the matter with
counterparts at Finance to make a recommendation to more
senior decision-makers. Ministry of Finance Permanent
Secretary Ramadhani Khijjah also said he saw no problem with
Kosovo's IMF membership as a financial matter and offered to
discuss the political aspects with MFA. In an apparent
reference to discussions of IMF governance reform, Khijjah
added that the IMF should have many members to express their
voices.
