1. (SBU) On March 23 we delivered President Obama's letter (Ref A),
inviting Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen to send a
representative to the Major Economies Forum (MEF) preparatory
meeting April 27-28 in Washington, and also conveyed MEF-related
points (Ref B). PM Rasmussen's climate advisor, Bo Lidegaard,
expressed appreciation for the President's invitation and said
Denmark would certainly attend the meeting. He pledged to let us
know once a decision had been made about whom to send.

2. (SBU) On March 26 we learned from Climate and Energy Minister
Connie Hedegaard's Chief of Staff that no decision had yet been
taken on whom to send to the MEF preparatory meeting. He said
Minister Hedegaard would be a logical choice, since the Danes have
heard the Germans and Chinese will be represented at the meeting at
the ministerial level.
