1. (C) On November 18, PolChief delivered reftel points
urging non-support of Anti-Israel UN Resolutions to the
Maldives High Commissioner Ali Hussain Didi. While he could
not commit to a definitive response, Didi assured Pol Chief
of government of the Maldives (GOM) serious consideration of
the resolutions and the Maldives probable intention to
abstain or to be absent from the vote. Didi was confident of
a favorable outcome in GOM's vote at the upcoming UNGA
resolutions. Didi noted the Maldives recent re-establishment
of diplomatic ties with Israel. Didi emphasized the
importance of a strong U.S. and the Maldives bilateral
relationship.
