(C) Reftel talking points were delivered to Anatol
Urecheanu, Head of the Department of Multilateral
Cooperation, at the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and European Integration on April 3, 2009.
Urecheanu stated that the Government of Moldova
was very close to the U.S.' position regarding
Russian recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
The Government of Moldova does not and will not
recognize South Ossetia or Abkhazia as independent
states. Urecheanu remarked that the Russians had
approached the MFA regarding this matter and that
the MFA had responded and would continue to
respond with the same message that they are
relaying to others such as the U.S. Urecheanu
finished by stating that he would inform his
minister of the demarche.
