(SBU) Police in Hyderabad arrested on January 17 a possibly key
suspect in the July 25-26, 2008 serial bombings in Bangalore and
Ahmadabad that killed nearly 60 people and injured more than 200.
According to our police contacts in Bangalore, the suspect (reported
in the press as Abdul Sattar from Mallapuram, Kerala),is being
transferred to their custody on January 22, following his initial
hearing in Hyderabad on January 21. Our police contacts say that
they are in the process of confirming some of the information (NFI)
that the suspect has provided to determine the possible extent of
his involvement in the blasts. Press reports suggest that the
suspect assisted in the construction of the explosive devices.
