1. (SBU) Embassy Canberra Assistant Air Attache LTC Michael
Kram, who is Embassy Canberra's POC on reftel foreign
operating rights request, contacted the Australian Department
of Defence (ADOD) Australian Defence Space Coordination
Office (DSCO) to engage in preliminary discussions on the
planned MDA launch of two STSS satellites during the week of
March 30. No issues were raised by DSCO at that time.
2. (SBU) The Australian Department of Defence POC for the
Foreign Operating Rights Request is WGCDR Jim Lewis, Deputy
Director Defence Space Coordination Office, tel: 61-2-6127
0828, jim.lewis@defence.gov.au. Alternate POC is Squadron
Leader Richard Harrison, Defence Space Coord 2, tel:
61-2-6266 5765, richard.harrison1@defence.gov.au.
3. (SBU) Embassy is continuing to seek approval for the USAF
teams to operate in Australia and will advice septel.
