1. (C) In a March 19 meeting with EmbOff to discuss U.S.
policy towards Georgia (reftel),Ministry of External
Affairs' Director of the Department of International
Organizations Adolphe Nahayo said that Burundi, as a small
country surrounded by larger states, empathized with
Georgia's plight and was in complete agreement with U.S.
policy in such matters. He also indicated that Burundi was
not planning to send any high-level diplomats to Abkhazia or
South Ossetia.
