Embassy delivered reftel points to MFA Department of
International Organizations Counselor Katalin Buzas and to
MFA Department for Africa and the Middle East Deputy Head of
Department Ferenc Csillag. Csillag told Econoff that Hungary
also supports the Broader Middle East North Africa (BMENA)
Initiative, but noted that Hungary has not yet received any
formal invitation or program from the BMENA Forum of the
Future co-host governments. He was nevertheless well aware
of the event, and indicated that his department is proposing
that Foreign Minister Balazs attend the Ministerial meeting
on November 2-3. He noted that should Minister Balazs be
unavailable to attend, he would expect a senior MFA State
Secretary to attend in his place. Csillag promised to keep
the Embassy updated as to the GOH's planned attendance at
BMENA Forum for the Future events.
