points to Alexander de Jaeger of the U.N. Section of the
Belgian MFA. Mr. de Jaeger said the GOB tends to support
European candidates, and could not comment on GOB support for
Ms. Myers. He said that some outstanding issue or situation
could modify Belgium's European voting practice, such as a an
overly late candidacy; Poloff noted that Italy recently
submitted its bid. De Jaeger suggested a possible agreement
to trade votes; Belgium had nominated a candidate for the
UN's Advisory Council on Administrative and Budgetary
Questions (ACABQ).
