2009 GCINT PLENARY

1. Poloff delivered reftel points to Werner Bauwens, Belgian
Special Envoy for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 4. Bauwens said that
Belgium is sending a "substantial delegation" of technical
experts to a Proliferation Security Initiative Operational
Experts meeting in Poland. Bauwens said that he is trying to
encourage participation in the Hague meeting of the GCINT.
He is waiting for a response from the agencies involved and
expects at least a customs department expert will attend.
Bauwens himself will attend the meeting in The Hague.
2. Bauwens reiterated the intention reported reftel to hold
a port security exercise, either under the PSI or the GCINT
in the Spring of 2011. He said that the Belgians do not want
it to be held during their EU presidency from July to
December 2010, because of the demands of the presidency on
their resources.
