1. (U) Post delivered reftel points to GOB MFA North American Desk
Officer Ayesha Borland on October 26.
2. (U) Ms. Borland reported that there would be no change from
Belize's position in past votes regarding the resolutions on Iran,
Burma and DPRK and indicated that Belize's positions on these
matters is aligned with the U.S. position.
3. (U) Ms. Borland expects there would be no change in Belize's
position regarding the elections resolution.
4. (U) Regarding the Defamation of Religions proposal, Ms. Borland
reported that she will inquire about Belize's position to share with
the Embassy.
5. (U) Ms. Borland stated that Belize was the fifth country to
ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child,that Belize agrees
fully with the language of the convention, and that Belize has taken
great strides to implement it fully in Belize because it believes it
is an appropriate and important standard for Belizean children. Ms.
Borland stated that Belize welcomes participation and ratification
of the convention by all countries. Ms. Borland would appreciate
clarification to share with the Belizean Mission regarding the US
goals of "acceptable language."
6. (U) Post will report any further substantive response from the
