1.(C) PolOff delivered reftel demarche to Majid Ramadan, Head
of the Americas Desk at the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign
Affairs on June 2. Hazim Abdel Samad of Ramadan's office
reported back to Embassy on June 17 that the request to
support the U.S. candidate was forwarded to the Lebanese UN
Mission in New York. Samad said Lebanon would support Ms.
Lucretia Meyer's candidacy for a seat on the civil service
commission during the 64th UNGA in October. Samad had no
other substantive comments concerning the election or Ms.
Meyer's candidacy.
