(C) Reftel points informing China of UK economic and
financial measures against Iran were delivered October 29 to
MFA Department of Arms Control and Disarmament Nuclear
Division Deputy Director Shen Jian. Shen noted that China
had received a briefing on the new measures from the UK
Embassy in Beijing but had no substantive response. Demarche
points were delivered separately October 28 to Li Guangling,
Deputy Director General of the International Cooperation
Department of the Ministry of Transport, as well as to PRC
officials at the International Division at the Ministry of
Finance on November 2.
