1. (SBU) Econ Counselor delivered points and background in
reftel on January 16 via telephone to Paul Pezaros, Director,
Agriculture Policy Division, Ministry of Agriculture. Econ
Counselor informed Mr. Pezaros of our new tariffs and the
reason behind the change, stressing this action was taken in
an effort to get forward movement on the beef hormone
dispute. Mr. Pezaros took that into consideration and noted
the Greek peach industry would be affected. He promised to
brief the Minister. Econ Counselor directed him to the USTR
website for any additional information he might need.
