1. (SBU) The Bureau of Multilateral Cooperation in the
Malagasy Ministry of Foreign Affairs has notified Post of
their decision, in time for the March 2 vote, to support
Judge Mark Painter for the position on the UN Appeals
Tribunal (reftel). Particularly in the current crisis
environment, Post is pleased to have received a definitive
response - the GOM frequently does not take positions on
matters that do not directly affect their national interests.
