1. (SBU) This is another in a series of weekly reports on PKK
violence in Turkey. Our primary source is the Turkish General Staff
(TGS) website, which documents contacts and clashes with the PKK, as
well as casualties incurred.


2. (U) During the week of November 1-7, no security official was
killed or injured. The total number of security force casualties
for the year through November 7, was 53 killed and 90 injured.


3. (U) During the same period, the bodies of two PKKers were found
in Bitlis province November 5. Two PKKers were captured, including
one in Van province on November 2, and the other in Hakkari province
on November 3. Two PKKers surrendered in the Mardin province
November 4. According to official TGS website figures, through the
first week of November the number of PKK militants killed this year
was 45, the number of those captured was 62. The number of those
who surrendered reached 110.


4. (U) During the reporting period no civilian was killed or injured
due to a PKK IED. The total number of civilian casualties for the
year through the end of the first week of November was 15 killed and
25 wounded.
