1. (U) This is an action request.
2. (C) General Khaled Sarayreh, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs
of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF),asked DATT whether
the USG would object to the JAF selling non-U.S. origin
ammunition to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Sarayreh specified that the equipment package would include
ammunition for: small arms, machine guns, RPGs, and 60mm
mortars. This would include a potential training
relationship with Congo. DATT told Sarayreh that he would
provide a response as soon as possible after consulting the
Department.
3. (U) Post requests Department guidance to address this
inquiry from the JAF.
