1. (SBU) Per reftel, Embassy Amman has learned the following
about Jordanian attendance at the UN General Assembly.
A. Attendance of the Head of State
-- King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein II
-- While his departure and arrival times are unknown, the
King has accepted an invitation to address the General
Assembly.
-- Queen Rania has reportedly expressed initial interest in
attending the UNRWA 60th anniversary celebration, but her
attendance has not been confirmed.
-- No translation is required.
B. Attendance of the Head of Government
-- Prime Minister Nader Al-Dahabi currently has no plans to
attend the UNGA session.
C. Attendance of the Foreign Minister
-- Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh has confirmed that he will
attend.
-- Judeh's departure and arrival times are still unknown.
-- The FM will not travel with a spouse.
-- No translation is required.
D. Attendance of other VIPs.
-- Both the King and the FM will travel with officials from
both the Royal Court and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The
size and composition of these accompanying delegations are
still unknown.
E. Attendance of the Foreign Ministry official responsible
for IO affairs.
-- It is likely that Dr. Musa Braizat, Director of the
International Organizations Department at the MFA, will
attend, although this has not been confirmed.
