SUMMIT CONFIRMED

1. (U) Charge had a follow-up discussion with FM Seyoum
August 27 regarding the Pittsburgh G20 Summit. Seyoum
confirmed that PM Meles intends to attend the Summit,
following a New York stop where he will be engaged in
activities associated with UNGA, the Clinton Foundation, and
the UN Climate Change Roundtable. Seyoum indicated that the
Prime Minister's Economic Advisor Neway Kristos Gebre-Ab,
would act as the PM's coordination point of contact for the
G20 Summit.
2. (SBU) Seyoum also relayed Meles' wish to have the same
Africa "team" available as had been the case in the London
G20 meeting, specifically to include AU Chairperson Jean
Ping, Economic Commission for Africa Executive Secretary
Abdoulie Janneh, and Africa Development Bank President Donald
Kaberuka. The Charge confirmed that AU Chairperson Ping had
been invited, and suggested that specifics regarding
logistics, meeting spaces, and other arrangements regarding
PM Meles' delegation could be handled by Neway.
3. (U) The Embassy is ready to facilitate further
communications with Neway and the Government of Ethiopia as
needed.
