1. (U) As a follow up to Ref B demarche, post received a
diplomatic note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs June 4
stating GOAM's assurance of support for the candidacy of
Ambassador Swing. Text of the diplomatic note is below.
2. (U) Begin text:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia
presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States
of America in the Republic of Armenia and, referring to the
latter's note no 272/07A of July 2007, has the honour to
inform that the Government of Armenia will support the
candidacy of Ambassador William Lacy Swing for the position
of Director General of the International Organization of
Migration at the elections to be held during the 95th Special
Session of the IOM, on 18-19 June 2008, in Geneva.
The Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia
avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Embassy of
United States of America the assurances of its high
consideration.
