REF: A. STATE 563
B. 07 VIENNA 2631
1. On January 9, Post delivered reftel invitation to the
WIREC conference to the Minister of Agriculture and
Environment, and sent copies of the letter to the Chiefs of
Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of
Economics, Labor, and Energy. We understand from the
discussions with our contacts in these ministries that
Environment Minister Josef Proell or the General Secretary of
his Ministry will lead the Austrian delegation. We were also
informed, however, that the composition of the delegation
will not be decided upon before receipt of the official
invitation. We expect the GoA to decide on the delegation
within the next month and we will follow up as soon as we
receive any additional information regarding the delegation's
exact composition.
2. Post's WIREC POC is Global Affairs Officer Michael G.
Spring; Phone: 43-1-31339-2398; e-mail: springmg@state.gov.
