TERRORISM
1. In a note verbale dated April 14, Malta's Ministry of
Foreign Affairs endorsed the Statement of Principles of the
Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism, and
announced its desire to become a partner nation in
the Global Initiative.
2. Text of note verbale:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta presents its
compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America,
in Malta and has the honor to refer to the Global
Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism that was launched
by President Bush and President Putin in 2006.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the honor to inform
that Malta, whilst sharing the common goals of the
Initiative and is committed to combat nuclear terrorism
on a determined and systematic basis, endorses the
Statement of Principles of the Global Initiative to
Combat Nuclear Terrorism and is hereby requesting the
United States of America, as one of the Co-Chairs of
the Initiative, to become a partner nation to this
Initiative.
A similar Note is being sent to the Embassy of the
Russian Federation, as the other Co-Chair of the
Initiative.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta avails itself of
the opportunity to renew to the Embassy of the United
States of America in Malta the assurances of its highest
consideration.
3. Please advise whether further action is required on the
part
of post to facilitate this request.
