(SBU) Japan's Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry Akira
Amari raised U.S. support for Japan's candidate to lead the
World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) with the
Ambassador April 24. Amari noted the qualifications of
Yoshiyuki Takagi, Japan's candidate, for taking on the role
of WIPO Director General, including his experience as WIPO
Executive Director for Planning. The Ambassador noted
Amari's and the GOJ's strong support for Takagi and agreed to
convey Amari's message to Washington.
