Proposal
1. (U) The US Embassy, Tirana Country Team has reviewed
EUCOM's 1206 proposal to include Albania's Regional Air
Surveillance Coordination Center (RASCC) and supports this
proposal.
2. (U) The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has agreed to
participate in this project which will fulfill their
partnership goal A2900 in that installation of this remote
workstation in Tirana will provide a real-time radar
picture from the Air Sovereignty Operations Center (ASOC)
in Sofia, Bulgaria. This system will provide a common
operating air picture for Albania and its adjoining
regional neighbors. This proposal will allow tracking,
control and interception of aircraft transiting Albanian
airspace with the intended purpose of being able to engage,
deny, defeat or otherwise share reporting information of
possible counter-terror and drug trafficking aircraft.
