PREPARTORY COMMITTEE MEETING
REF: SECSTATE 43044
(SBU) On 24 April 2008, POLOFF delivered ref demarche to Mr. Samir
Repishti in the Office of Multilateral Affairs at the Albanian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Repishti said Albania is a proud
signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) and supports
the activities of the committee. Albania will read and consider the
US papers carefully. If asked by the USG, the Albanian Mission in
Washington will work with the USG to ensure Albania could support
them at the committee meeting. Mr. Repishti was concerned about a
possible unified EU position or paper that may not be in line with
the US paper, and said he would inform POLOFF if any future concerns
develop.
