(C) The Dutch will abstain on the de-alerting resolution and
will vote against a depleted uranium resolution at the UNGA
Disarmament Committee. Pol-Mil Officer discussed reftel
points with the Head of the Nuclear Affairs and
Non-Proliferation Division, Henk Cor van der Kwast, on
October 31st. Van der Kwast said there had been very little
discussion at UNGA on the de-alerting resolution and
confirmed that the Dutch would abstain during voting. He
added that the Dutch voted against the depleted uranium
resolution in the past and will do so again this year. The
Dutch do not support the wording in the depleted uranium
resolution and note the lack of
any facts supporting it.
