1. (SBU) Emboffs shared reftel points concerning the upcoming
Iran-hosted nuclear conference with the Dutch Foreign
Ministry's Middle East desk and the Non-proliferation
Division Head as well as with Taco Westerhuis, Coordinator
for Middle East and Energy Affairs, Ministry of Economic
Affairs (MEA). (Note: MEA has lead responsibility for energy
issues in the Dutch government. End note.)
2. (SBU) Westerhuis told Econoff October 27 "there wasn't
much enthusiasm" at MEA about the conference. MEA Trade
Policy Department Deputy Director, Rene van Hell, followed up
October 28 to emphasize the Dutch government "won't attend"
the conference.
